By ġhanj-e-Qarun, we mean immense wealth. Qarun is renowned for his treasure and his miserliness is widely known. Qarun was the cousin of Prophet Musa (Moses). With the help of his knowledge of alchemy, he had accumulated a vast amount of gold and silver by creating them. He possessed such a treasure that keys to his treasure chambers were carried on the backs of forty thousand camels.
Prophet Musa advised him to give charity of one dinar out of every thousand dinars. However, Qarun refused and started giving Prophet Musa a hard time. Dissatisfied with his attitude, ġhod caused the earth to swallow both him and his treasure.
