Dr. Mohammad Saad Zafar is a sincere, hardworking, and insightful scholar of Urdu and Persian literature. He began his educational journey in the village of Parsediya near Gola Gokarn Nath in Lakhimpur (Kheri), Uttar Pradesh. Despite limited resources, he laid a strong foundation for his studies. His rural background helped develop his love for knowledge and learning.

He received his early education in Arabic and Persian from Jamia Islamia, Shahjahanpur. Later, he completed his religious education at Khadim-ul-Islam, Hapur and Madrasa Shahi, Moradabad. These institutions played an important role in shaping his character and thinking. He then studied up to Intermediate level at Islamia Inter College, Shahjahanpur.

For higher education, he completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Lucknow. With the encouragement of his teacher, Dr. Arshad-ul-Qadri, he joined Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. This was a major turning point in his life. At JNU, he completed his MA, M.Phil. and PhD in Persian literature.

At JNU, he studied under many distinguished teachers who helped him develop strong research and analytical skills. His M.Phil. research was on “A Critical Study of Najat-ul-Rasheed,” which was a valuable academic work. His PhD thesis, “A Critical Study of Ilm-ul-Kitab,” focused on the works of the famous Sufi poet Khwaja Mir Dard.

Dr. Mohammad Saad Zafar’s writings reflect deep study, balanced thinking and academic honesty. His style is serious and well-argued. He is an inspiration for young researchers. His continuous work in Urdu and Persian literature is a valuable contribution and will guide future scholars.
