Born in 1191AH, Shah Abul Hassan Fard Phulwarvi, grandson of Pir Mujeebullah Qadri, eldest son of Shah Nematullah Qadri, is a noted Sajjada Nashin of Khanqah Mujeebia, Phulwari Sharif. Patna He wrote under the pen name ‘Fard’, and received his early education from his father and completed it from Maulana Ahmadi who was a leading scholar of his time. In 1247 AH, Shah Abul Hassan Fard Phalwarvi became the Sajjada Nashin of Khanqah Mujeebia and continued the process of growth and guidance and helped spread the word far. Poetry was a natural to Fard, and he had a penchant towards it since childhood. Initially, he sought corrections from his cousin Shah Noor-ul-Haq Tapa'n Phalwarvi, who noticed Fard’s poetic acumen and encouraged him to read and write more. Fard studied and benefitted greatly from the works of Hafiz, Saa'di, Jaami, Arfi and Khusrau and also liked their style of poetry. He was greatly influenced by Hafiz. Fard’s Persian poems are still the main charm of Sama’ gatherings among the Sufi. Apart from ghazals and naats, Fard Phalwarvi has also written rubaiyat, qasida, masnavi and qataat-e-tarikh. This prominent Sufi poet of Bihar passed away on 24 Muharram 1265 AH in 1848 and was buried in Bagh-e-Mujeebi.
