Profile of Raidas
Raidas, a contemporary of Kabir and disciple of Saint Ramanand ji, was a prominent saint who lived between the 15th and 16th Century in India. The queen of Jhala from Central Mewar was one of his disciples. Meerabai is also said to be a disciple of Raidas but the difference of ages in which they both lived renders the claim unproven. The compositions of Raidas ji are derived from two sources, the first is Shri Adi Granth, in which 40 verses of Raidas ji are quoted, and second is ‘Raidas ji ki Bani’, published from Belvedere Press, which has 6 Sakhiyan and 76 verses.
