jo disai so to nahi hai so kaha na jai

Kabir

jo disai so to nahi hai so kaha na jai

Kabir

jo dīsai so to naahī hai so kahā na jaa.ī

bin dekhai paratīt na aavai kahae na ko patiyānā

samjhā hoai to shabdai chīnahai achraj hoai ayānā

koī dhyābai nikārā ko koī dhyāvai ākārā

vidhī in donoñ te nyārā jānai jānanhārā

vah raag to lakhā na jaa.ī mātrā lāgai na kaanā

kahae 'kabīr' so paḌhai na paralai surat nirat jin jaanā

That which you see is not: and for that which is, you have no words.

Unless you see, you believe not: what is told you you cannot accept.

He who is discerning knows by the word; and the ignorant stands gaping.

Some contemplate the Formless, and others meditate on form: but the wise man knows that Brahma is beyond both.

That beauty of His is not seen of the eye: that metre of His is not heard of the ear.

Kabir says: He who has found both love and renunciation never descends to death.

jo disai so to nahi hai so kaha na jai

bin dekhai paratit na aawai kahae na ko patiyana

samjha hoai to shabdai chinahai achraj hoai ayana

koi dhyabai nikara ko koi dhyawai aakara

ya widhi in donon te nyara jaanai jaananhaara

wah rag to lakha na jai matra lagai na kana

kahae 'kabir' so paDhai na paralai surat nirat jin jaana

Unless you see, you believe not: what is told you you cannot accept.
