MORE BYAhmad Raza Khan

    ai shāfe-e-tar dāmnāñ-o- vai chāra-e-dard-e-nihāñ

    jān-e-dil-o-rūh-e-ravāñ ya.anī shah-e-arsh āstāñ

    O Intercessor of sinners, O Healer of the afflicted,

    O life of the heart and spirit’s very breath, Sovereign of the Throne.

    ai jān-e-man jānān-e-man ham dard-o-ham darmān-e-man

    dēn-e-man-o-ī.mān-e-man amn-o-amān-e-ummatāñ

    O my soul, my beloved, my pain and my remedy,

    My faith, my creed, my peace and the refuge of the community.

    gul mast shud az bū-e-tū bulbul fidā-e-rū-e-tū

    sumbul nisār-e-mū-e-tū tuutī ba-yādat naġhma-ḳhvāñ

    The flowers are intoxicated by thy fragrance, and the nightingale is devoted to thy countenance;

    The hyacinth sacrifices itself upon thy blessed locks, and the parrot sings in remembrance of thee.

    dar hijr-e-tū sozāñ dilam paara jigar az ranj-o-ġham

    sad daaġh siina az alam vaz chashm dariyā.e ravāñ

    My heart burns in thy memory, and my liver is torn asunder by grief and sorrow;

    Through anguish my breast bears hundreds of scars, and from my eyes rivers flow unceasing.

    bahr-e-ḳhudā marham banih az kār-e-man ba-kushā girah

    fariyād-ras daade ba-deh daste ba-mā uftād-gāñ

    For the sake of God, lay balm upon us, untie the knot of our hardships;

    Hearken to my cry and grant redress, give support to us, the helpless.

    maulā ze-pā uftada-am dāram shahā chashme karam

    mahr-e-arab māh-e-ajam rahame ba-hāl-e-bandagāñ

    O Master, I am utterly destitute; O King, I am in need of thy gracious gaze;

    O Sun of Arabia and Moon of Persia, have mercy upon the condition of Thy servants.

    shakkar ba-deh gar yak suḳhan talḳhast bar man jān-e-man

    bār-e-naqāb az ruḳh figan bahr-e-razā.e ḳhasta-jāñ

    My soul is caught in bitter trial—bestow upon it a touch of sweetness;

    For the broken-hearted Raza, unveil thy radiant countenance.
