man ze-sauda-e-mohabbat walih-o-diwana am
man ze-saudā-e-mohabbat vālih-o-dīvāna am
āshiq-e-shorīda-sar mahv-e-ruḳh-e-jānāna am
I am a lover and a insane, and I am lost in the love of my beloved's radiant and beautiful face.
mastī-e-man az nigāh-e-chashm-e-mast-e-sāqī ast
banda-e-pīr-e-muġhāñ ḳhāk-e-dar-e-mai-ḳhāna am
I am intoxicated and exhilarated by the mesmerizing gaze of the cupbearer, and that mystic master is the dust of my tavern, the servant of the beloved wine-pourer.
man ba-qurbānat shavam ai sāqī-e-bāda farosh
az sharāb-e-be-ḳhudī labrez kun paimāna am
Oh, seller of wine, I am ready to sacrifice myself for you. Fill my cup with the intoxicating wine that you provide.
ābid-e-jānāna am ma.abūd-e-man husn-e-vai ast
sākin-e-manzil varā-e- ka.aba-o-butḳhana am
Oh worshipper of the divine, my God is the epitome of beauty and grace. My sanctuary, Kaaba, and Jerusalem are His abode and dwelling.
kār-e-ḳhud kun zāhidā vaz kufr-o-īmānam ma-purs
mashrabam ishqast-o-rindī āshiq-e-dīvāna am
Oh ascetic, you do your own work. Don't question my disbelief and faith, for my drinking of love and indulgence in wine is my madness.
aañ tajallīhā-e-husn-e-dil-brāñ mānind-e-tūr
bā-hazārāñ barq-o-sho.ala soḳhta kāshāna am
The radiance of this beloved's beauty is like the manifestation of a mountain (just as the manifestation of Mount Tur shattered it into pieces). Similarly, thousands of lightning bolts and flames have reduced my home to ashes.
dar ḳharābāt-e-muġhāñ bā-shāhidāñ vaqtam ḳhushast
tā ba-rindī 'ahmadā' mash.hūr shud afsāna am
In the tavern of the wine-seller, I spend my time happily and contentedly with witnesses. As long as the tale of Ahmad's ecstasy and intoxication remains famous, I am the story.
