Akbar Lakhnavi was born in 1907 in the house of Haji Muhammad Istafi Khan, a noble, honorable, successful, and well-known businessman of Lucknow. He increased his academic abilities by reading English, Urdu, and Persian privately from various teachers. Akbar Lakhnavi was a religious man. He was a strict observer of prayers and fasting and was a great man who helped the poor. He had a good reputation in Lucknow and his products were in great demand both at home and abroad. He had inherited the taste of poetry from his father who was a Sahib-e-Diwan poet. Akbar used to refrain from poetry recitals and received much praise from the Hameed Siddiqui. Akbar used to write poetry for amusement. He never expressed his intention to publish his writings. That is why the works of Akbar Lakhnavi are not easily found. Akbar spent most of his life taking care of his business. On April 10, 1985, when he was 78 years old, he had a heart attack and passed away. His burial took place in the ancestral cemetery in Lucknow.
