Profile of Anwari
Ali ibn Muhammad was born in 1126 AH, and wrote under the pen-name Anwari, one of the greatest Persian poets. He was given the title of Ohad al-Din, and his birthplace was Khadran, Balkh. On this occasion, he first changed his nom De plume to Khadri but changed it to Anwari at the request of his teacher Emad Sani. Later, he came to be known as Hakim Ohad-ud-Din. Anwari was a high-minded and thoughtful poet and used to present the precise and convoluted motifs beautifully in everyday words and popular accent. He lived a life of renunciation, and never cared for money. The people of literature consider Anwari to be the no less than a prophet. He died in 1189.
