Syed Badruddin Ahmed Badr Azimabadi was the son of Khan Bahadur Zaheeruddin Ahmed. He was born in 1900 in his hometown Azimabad (Patna) where he lived for his entire lifetime. His father was an important and talented writer of his time. Badr's literary life began in 1948, but before that some of his political articles were published in newspapers from 1937 to 1948. From 1948, when he retired from advocacy and politics, he entered the field of poetry. He tried his hand at all genres of poetry but became more interested in ghazals. He has written emphatically on the literary, poetic, social and economic conditions of Azimabad under the title ‘Haqiqat Bhi Kahani Bhi’.
