Born Syed Bahauddin Ahmed, in the Niyanwa'n District of Gaya in 1911, he was the son of Syed Ziyauddin, and wrote under the pen name Kaleem. Originally, he was a fiction writer, but later entered the field of poetry. He has written numerous Ghazals and Nazms, and his articles have also been published frequently. He was impressed by the writings of Maulana Abul Kalaam Azad among others.
