Mirza Abdul Qadir Bedel was born in 1644. He was one of the most famous Persian language poets in India. Some writers have also called him Iranian and also believe his residence and grave to be in Iran. He was a great poet, writer and great scholar of Persian language. His poetry contains both spirituality and cognition. His ancestors were of Turkish descent and belonged to the Barlas tribe and came to India from Central Asia and settled in Azimabad. He was born here during the reign of Shahjahan. Bedel's father, Mirza Abdul Khaliq, was one of the foremost Sufis. At the age of four-and-a-half, Bedel lost his father and at the age of six, his mother died. Bedel's uncle, Mirza Qalandar, was trained in Sufism by Mirza Abdul Khaliq. After the death of his mother, Mirza Qalandar, looked after Bedil with great compassion. Bedil mastered Turkish, Arabic, and Persia, even memorizing the Qur’an. But acquiring knowledge did not depend on reading books alone, for he had the opportunity to benefit from the company of scholars and mystics who were comprehensive in their knowledge of reason and logic. Initially, Bedel used the nickname Ramzi. Inspired by a couplet in the preface of Gulistan-e-Saadi, he chose his nickname "Bedil". He died on 23 November 1720. This was the reign of the Mughal ruler Muhammad Shah.
