Profile of Bu Ali Shah Qalandar
Born Sharaf-ud-Din, Bu'ali Qalandar was born in 1205 AH in Panipat and is one of the famous saints. He is one of the descendants of Imam Azam Abu Hanifa. It is also said that he was the cousin of Sheikh Jamal-ud-Din Hansvi. His father's name is Fakhruddin and his mother's name is Bibi Fatima. The story behind his name goes like this, when Hazrat Mawla Ali took him out of the river, he became intoxicated in the Divine, and from that day onwards became known as Bu Ali Shah Qalandar. Some people believe that he was the disciple of Khalifa Khawaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar. Some believe that he was a disciple of Caliph Sheikh Najamuddin Qalandar. According to some, he was a disciple of Caliph Sheikh Shahabuddin Aashiq Khuda, who was a disciple of Caliph Sheikh Imam-ud-Din Abdal and was a disciple of Caliph Khawaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki. The Diwan of Bu Ali Shah is considered one of the most important books of Sufism in Persian. Hazrat Makhdoom Syed Latif-ud-Din, a learned disciple of Hazrat Bo Ali Shah Qalandar, became a venerable elder himself whose shrine is at Mora Talab Bihar Sharif. Bo Ali Shah Qalandar passed away in September 1324, in Kohwa. His shrine is located in Panwar Pat.
