His grandfather, Manudas, is counted among the most famous Marathi poets. He wrote many texts in Marathi like Ramayana, Bhagwat etc. His songs became very popular in the masses. His death is stated in 1599 AD. It is said that the year that Eknath ji ended his Bhagwat in Varanasi, the same year Goswami Tulsidas started Ramcharitmanas. Due to his residence in the north, he had a tendency towards Hindi.
