Profile of Ghausi Shah
Ghousi Shah is one of the prominent Sufi poets of Hyderabad. He was born on July 1, 1893 in Begum Bazaar, Hyderabad. He was fluent in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. He greatly benefitted from teachers such as Maulana Hameedullah and Inamullah. Ghausi Shah Sahib was a prolific writer, poet and orator, and had scholarly mastery over texts of Ibn-e-Arabi and Masnavi of Maulana Rumi. He recited the Masnavi with such cadence that the audiences went into a rapture. He had a bent for poetry from early on, and during his youth, he visited Dagh Dehlvi’s poetry recitals. His collection of poems "Taybat-e-Ghousi" was first published in 1938 and after that was republished several times. Ghousi wrote Naat, Ghazal, Hamd, Salaam, and Manqabat. He passed away on June 6, 1954 and was buried at Karimullah Shah Mosque, Begum Bazaar.
