Sheikh Sa'duddin Mahmood Shabistari, son of Abdul Karim bin Yahya Shabistari, was born in the town of Shabistar in 1250 which is some 8 miles from Tabriz. It was the time of Halaku Khan. Mahmood Shabistari grew up in his hometown and reached the age of learning. During the reigns of Al-Jaitwa and Abu Saeed, he gained fame and was counted among the famous scholars and scholars of Tabriz. He was one of the great mystics of Iran. The reason for his fame is Masnavi Gulshan-e-Raz. He was one of the Sufi scholars of his time. He worked hard to solve religious issues and misconceptions. People used to approach him in these issues, the pupils used to run to his service from all sides and ask him to solve their problems in scientific issues. He passed away at the age of 53.
