Profile of Miyan Mustafa
Belonging to the Bohri caste, Mustafa, adopted the beliefs of Mehdi Moudi, and brought together a vivid group of people, one which is still prevalent in Rajasthan by the name of ‘Daaira’. He wrote predominantly in Persian, but some of his compositions are also found in Hindavi, Rekhta or Gujari. His style of expression is simple, and extremely flowing and potent.
