Born on December 20, 1933 in Meerut, his real name was Muhammad Muzaffaruddin Siddiqui and his pen-name was Muzaffar. Muzaffar Warsi is recognized as one of the most important pillars of Urdu poetry. Apart from Ghazals, he made the praise of Hazrat Muhammad Pak, that is Naat, the central motif of all his poetry. He was awarded an award by Pakistan Television in 1980 for his excellent Naa't recitation. He came to Pakistan after the partition of India and settled in Lahore. The Ghalib Academy, Delhi conferred upon him the "Iftikhar Ghalib" award for his poetry. He has also written songs for many films but since he started reciting Naat, he stopped writing film songs. His prominent works include: Barf Ki Nao (Collection of Ghazals), Bab-e-Haram (Naa't), Lahja (Ghazal), Noor-e-Azal (Naa't), Al-Hamd (Naa't), Hisar (Poem), Lahu ki Haryali (Geet), Sitaro Ki Aab-ju (Qita), Khule Dariche, Band Hawa (Ghazal), Ka'bah-e-Ishq (Naat), La-sharik, Sahib Al-Taj, Gaye DInon Ka Suragh, Gahre Pani. He was also awarded Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan. He passed away in Lahore on February 28, 2011 at the age of 77 after a long illness.
