His patrons were Maharaj Raghunath Rao (Nagpur), Maharaj Pratap Singh and Jai Singh (Jaipur), None Arjun Singh, Gosain Anupagiri (Himmat Bahadur Banda) and Daulatrao Scindia (Gwalior). He worked largely in Sagar (Madhya Pradesh) and his language was Braj. His major compositions are – Himmat Bahadur Virudavali, Padma Bharata, Jagadvinod, Prabodh Pachasa, Ganga Lahiri, Alishah Prakash, Hitopadesh and Ishwar Pachisi. A popular poet of Reetkal, his works abound in pictorialism. He is counted among the scholars who have successfully expresses the Nav-Ras in his poems.
