Profile of Saghar Siddiqi
Sagar Siddiqui's real name was Muhammad Akhtar. He was born in 1928 in Ambala, Punjab. A fine poet of the Urdu language, his writings look straight into the eyes of the authority. Sagar Siddiqui used to take correction from Latif Anwar Gurdaspuri. Sagar traveled from Amritsar to Lahore to write movie songs. He stayed in Lahore's Anar Kali Bazaar and had a good time. It is said that Sagar was addicted to drugs in the last days and used to lie in the streets of Lahore in a state of insobriety. He died of a stroke on July 19, 1974 and was buried in Miyani Sahib Cemetery.
