Born Sartaj Waris Warsi, he was the son of Dr. Waris Hassan Bedar Warsi and grandson of Bedam Shah Warsi. He was born on October 5, 1952, in the new town of Kocha Shell, Etawa. He holds an MA in English, Economics, and Political Science and a B.Ed. Sartaj Warsi was a lecturer at Islamia Inter College, Itawah. He had two sons, Wasif Sartaj and Yasir Sartaj. Sartaj Warsi inherited his taste for poetry. He received Islaah first from his mother and then from Farid Ishrati. Sartaj was also a constant in reciting at Mushaira. He passed away in 2020.
