Born Mirza Ibrahim Baig he wrote under the pen name Shaida. His father's name was Shaida Baig. He was born in 1864 in Lucknow to a respectable family. His ancestors were from Fatehpur but his elders bid farewell to Malwa and moved to Dewa, Barabanki district. After the death of Mirza Ibrahim Baig, his wife remained in Dewa. Mirza Ibrahim Baig Shaida Warsi was one of the devoted followers of Haji Waris Ali Shah. He lived a modest life. He always wore a white shirt and a hat. He spent most of his life in the company of Haji Waris Ali Shah and considered his service as his first duty. According to his will, after his demise, all his property was dedicated to Haji Waris Ali Shah Muslim Trust Dewa. His house and personal library are also present in Dewa and in his courtyard is the now-famous shrine of Shaida Warsi. Sheida Warsi was not only a faqir but also had a special place in the world of science and literature. Love and affection abound in his poetry. He has tried his hand at all genres of poetry but has composed ghazals in most numbers. Khulasat-ul-Sulook, Balig-ul-Maram, Hayat-e-Waris and Minhaj-ul-Aashqia are his key prose writings. Apart from this, Naala-e-Sheida, Afzal-e-Waris, Faiz-e-Waris and Wasokht-e-Shaida are very popular among his poetic works. In his poetry, Shaida Warsi has presented the virtues of real love and worldly love and has also shown the difference between the two. He has taught us to walk on the path of Truth by making worldly love Real love. He will forever be remembered for his invaluable contribution to Sufi literature.
