His real name was Ahmad, and his title is Sharafuddin Khitab Makhdoom-e-Jaha'n and Sultan-ul-Muhaqqiqeen. He was born in Shaban-ul-Ma'azzam 661 AH in 1263 AH in Maner Sharif district of Patna.His lineage goes back to Hazrat Zubair Ibn Abdul Muttalib. Thus his ancestors are Hashmi Zubair. His great-grandfather Imam Muhammad Taj Faqih was a great scholar and eminent jurist of his time. They migrated from Syria and settled in the town of Maner in Bihar and then left their children in Maner and returned to Mecca. When Makhdoom-e-Jaha'n reached a sensible age, father Hazrat Makhdoom Sheikh Kamaluddin Yahya Maneri sent him to Sunargaon for further education in the company of Maulana Sharafuddin Abu Tawama. Yahya was among the favorite pupils of Sheikh Maulana Ashrafuddin Tavama. He isalso related to Bihar’s Firdausi Silsila of Sufis, and is considered an important saint among them. He had pledged allegiance and caliphate to Khwaja Najeebuddin Firdausi. The preachings of Firdausia order were well received by him. His world-famous archives and letters have been around for centuries and two centuries. Even today a large section of Sufis study the writings of Hazrat Makhdoom-e-Jaha'n. He passed away on the night of 5 Shawwal 786 AH, 1380 AH, during Isha prayers.
