ba-kūyat har sage rā baar bāshad
vale baar murā dushvār bāshad
In your street, every dog has access,
But for me, it is very difficult to bear this burden.
sage rā ham numāyam man ba-bāzār
sagāñ rā niiz az man 'aar bāshad
If I take even a dog to the market to show,
I will feel ashamed of the dog.
nigārā man kunam tauba za-'ishqat
ba-haqq-e-tū ki iiñ guftār bāshad
Oh my beloved, I repent from your love,
Indeed, it is your right to say and do as you wish.
na-bāshad sādiqe chuuñ man ba-yārī
va-lekin lāf-zan bisyār bāshad
Don't become truthful and honest like me,
Instead, become clever and skilled in speaking.
kase kū ġham ḳhurd az jān-o-īmāñ
yaqīñ daanī ke o aġhyār bāshad
If someone is saddened for their faith and life, believe that they will no longer be familiar with (evils), meaning they will change.
ba-goyam hāl-e-ḳhud bar tū ba-tarasam
ki shah rā az gadā āzār bāshad
I myself state my condition that I fear for you,
That the king may face trouble and sorrow from this poor person.
kHarābīh-e-bātin rā ’imārat
shavad āñ-gah ki yāram yaar bāshad
The rectification of the inner flaws will happen,
When my beloved becomes truly mine.
