Ali Haider Multani is a famous Sufi poet of Punjabi and Seraiki. He was born on May 10, 1690, 1101 AH, in the town of Chontra after the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb. His father's name was Sheikh Muhammad Amin who was a landowner by profession. Then he took the company of reputable scholars and scholars of that era. He had the honor of swearing allegiance to Khawaja Fakhruddin Chishti Dehlavi. After Ali Haider Multani, Sultan Bahoo and Syed Waris Ali Shah, great poets of Punjab are recognized. The mystical color is prominent in his poetry. Apart from ghazals, he has also written verses and Naat. His mystical words are still sung in Pakistan today and the audience becomes enchanted. Ali Haider Multani was fluent in both Arabic and Persian. Lutf Ali Bahawalpuri was his student Rashid. Some of his most acclaimed works include: Majmua Sii Harfiyan Majmua mukammal abyaat-e-ali haidar Qissa-e-Heer-o-Ranjha Fatkal Kalam Diwan-e-Haidar The most famous of these was Qissa-e-Heer-o-Ranjha. In 1898, Malik Fazluddin from Lahore was very impressed with his poems and published them. In this book, he collected most of his verses which were published with the help of the original manuscript under the supervision of Faqir Ghulam, a disciple of Ali Haider Multani. The whole collection was named Azmat-e-Ali Haider. Ali Haider Multani died on 8 June 1785 in 1199 AH in his native village Chontra, Toba Tek Singh District, Pakistan. His shrine is also located here and Urs is performed with great devotion every year.
