Shah Ata Hussain Ibn Shah Sultan Ahmad was born in 1232 AH in Danapur. He was educated in his own family. Turning to esoteric education, he first pledged allegiance to his great-grandson Hazrat Shah Ghulam Hussain Manemi in the Chishtia Khizaria Munemia dynasty and was also granted permission and caliphate. He belonged to the famous Sufi family Shahtoli, Danapur. He received further spiritual education from Hazrat Syed Shah Qamaruddin Hussain Abulolai. He went to Ghazipur for employment during the British rule and settled in Kotwal. At the same time, he received the news of the demise of his supreme mentor Hazrat and resigned from his post and returned to Azimabad. Shah Ata Hussain Fani was an excellent prose writer and poet. His writings became more famous than his poetry. Urdu travelogue Hidayat-ul-Musafireen is remembered as his best work. Kifat-ul-Arfeen and Kunzul Ansaab in Persian language made Fani very famous. It is said that he also has a Diwan in Urdu. In Urdu, Fani's three Masnavi on the points of Sufism are Sarta, Ganjina-e-Auliya and Sirr-e-Haq. Of these, Sirr-e-Haq has been published. Hazrat Fani laid the foundation of the monastery in Ram Sagar, Gaya and started the process of growth and guidance. The famous elder and Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Akbar Danapuri is the nephew and caliph of Hazrat Fani. Fani died on 17 Shawwal 1311 AH in Ram Sagar, Gaya and was buried there.
