Profile of Basheer Warsi
Bashir Warsi's real name was Syed Diwana Shah. His hometown was Hassanpura town of Siwan district. After migrating from here, he took up permanent residence in Mora district Champaran. He was born in 1312 AH in Hassanpura district of Siwan. He was assayed as an extremely sagacious individual. His early education took place at home. After that, he received advanced learnings from different places of Chapra. His Darvesh-like temperament saw him reach Haji Waris Ali Shah through the course of fate. Meeting him, his heart was filled with love and he adopted the pen name Bashir. His poetry abounds in Ghazal poetry and largely center around gnostic Sufi themes. Apart from being a poet, Deewana Shah was also known as a prose writer. His essay "Jazbat-al-Junun" which was recorded in 1945 was published in Calcutta in 1964. This essay contains finer nuances related to Sufism. It discusses the virtues of a believer, the idea of faith, monotheism, and Sufism. Diwana Shah Warsi also had the honor of completing Hajj. He had chosen a place in Jagdal, Calcutta for his grave in his own life. He was buried in Jagdal, Calcutta in 1956.
