Syed Muhammad Shah Warsi's pen-name was Benazir. He was born in Katra Manakpur, Allahabad District in 1863. His father Ehsan Ali Qadri was a preacher and a source of growth and guidance to many. Benazir Shah was also a Sufi and Darwish like his father and had received spiritual blessings from him. He was educated in the ancient religion-centered style. He was fluent in Arabic and Persian. Encouraged by the completion of knowledge and literature, he made the promotion of religion and guidance of the people of Allah his way of life and moved to Hyderabad Deccan. Hyderabad became the center of his followers' circle where he lived a pure and humble life in divine absorption. Benazir Shah Warsi had a natural attachment to poetry. He was an accomplished poet and had a modernist style of composition, but unfortunately, most of his words were lost during a journey. In Ghazal, he used to consult Amir Minai and in Masnavi Wajhullah Allahabadi. In some books, it has been mentioned that he used to take correction from Waheed Allahabadi but due to his connection with the order of Faqr and Darwesh, he is one of the most eloquent poets of modern times whose Hamds are also rare. His poetry is pure and immersed in Sufism. Prof. Abdul Qadir Sarwari and Prof. Elias Burney published many of his verse selections and introduced his poetry to the Urdu-speaking community. Benazir Shah's fame is due to his masterful Masnavi which was completed in 1890. It was published in two volumes, entitled "Kitab-e-Mubin" and "Jawahar-e-Benazir". This Masnavi is very long and is composed to guide disciples of the Sufi order. Benazir Shah Warsi's style is very clear and simple. There is a great deal of fluency in his expression. Benazir Shah Warsi passed away in 1939.
