Abul Fazl Faizi is a great poet and writer of Mughal period. He was also one of the nine jewels of Mughal King Muhammad Akbar. Faizi was born in Akbarabad, modern-day Agra, on September 24, 1547 during the reign of Saleem Shah Suri. He was the son of Sheikh Abul Faiz Mubarak Naguri and the elder brother of Abul Fazl Alami. Faizi studied Arabic. It is said that Faizi was very intelligent. He got a place in Akbar's court as a poet and writer and also got the title of Malik-Ush-Sho'ara. Faizi was also a general on the Deccan side. Faizi is said to have written hundreds of books, but the most famous of these was Akbar Namah which made Faizi a strong part of history. Faiz died of asthma. He died at the age of 48 on October 5, 1595, in the year 1004 AH. Some even say that Shahzada Saleem Jaha'ngir had him killed because of a feud. Faizi's grave is near Tarwar in Madhya Pradesh.
