Kabir Warsi's real name was Syed Kabir Hussain. He was born on January 25, 1944, in Dewa Barabanki district. His father's name was Syed Tahir Shah; a resident of Chaudhryan Nazd Dargah Waris-e-Pak. His earlier education took place in Madrasa Misbah-ul-Uloom, Dewa, and then passed the high school examination. He was a businessman by profession, especially working as a property dealer.
He had a keen interest in poetry. He was known for his unique Tarannum (recitation style) due to which he was invited to the Mushairas of Uttar Pradesh and also received marked fame. He used to take Islaah in poetry from Maulana Akhtar Alvi. His poetic work has come to light under the title "Jam-e-Sukhan". The second collection of his poems is published under the name of "Shahr-e-Mohabbat" which epitomizes his devotion to Haji Waris Ali Shah.
