She is called the Rabia of Kashmir. She was born in 1300 AD. It is said that she was born in a village of Sampore in a Brahmin family, and was married in Pampore. She was born during the reign of Sultan Alauddin. Along with following her household life, she became completely engrossed in multi-contemplation and later became a took to seclusion. She died during the reign of Sultan Shahabuddin. Her works are very popular among the Kashmiri people. It is said that she was laid to rest behind the wall of Jama Masjid in Jibror (Bijbihara) village on Srinagar Jammu highway, 28 miles from Srinagar.
