Born Syed Ehtishamuddin Ahmad alias Shah Haider on 29 Safar Tuesday, 1282 AH in 1866 in Maner Sharif, Maneri wrote under many pen-names; Mahv, Safi, Ma'ni and Mashriqi. He received his early education from his father Majid Shah Khaliluddin Ahmad Josh Maneri who was a wise minister. Mashriqi Maneri lived in Mongir with his father Josh Maneri. In those days a passion for poetry arose. Initially writing as Mahv, then Safi, and later adopted the pen-name Mashriqi, he admitted that at the age of twelve, when he began writing, he did not even know prosody and rhyme. He gained fame in literary circles due to his literary talents. His father stayed there during the Mongir period. Later he took correction from Sufi Maneri. And improved further as a poet, also writing in Persian and Arabic. Due to his health, he lived in stayed in Ara, Calcutta, Muzaffarpur. At the end of his life, he retired to seclusion. It is said that he drowned the first collection of Kalaam which had forty thousand verses in the pond of Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Daulat Maneri. Mashriqi Maneri has written poetry in both Urdu and Persian and has done well. His poems were also published in the weekly Al-Panch, Patna. He also reited his ghazals in great mushairas and received much acclaim. He also used to participate in the consultations of Azimabad, Ara, Bihar Sharif etc. On 9 Shawwal 1343 AH, according to 1925, he had a stroke and died on the next day, 10 Shawwal. East Maneri was buried in the precincts of Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Daulat Maneri.
