Profile of Pir Syed Muhammad Aqdas
Born Syed Pir Mohammad Shah Al-Maroof, he wrote under his pen-name ‘Aqdas’. In Ahmedabad, he used to go to Shah Wajihuddin's tomb and while returning (modern-day Pir Mohammad Shah's Roza), used to walk and stroll near an old lady's hut. As the lade insisted and invited him, he used to smile and say that if God wanted, I will stay here forever. The same happened, after burial he was buried where the old woman's hut was. A scholar of Persian and Arabic, he had two important poetic works to his name- (1) Aqdas Makashifat, and (2) Ishqullah. The Pir Mohammad Shah Library, near the memorial of Pir Mohammad Shah's tomb, is still present today. A number of his texts in Arabic, Persian and Urdu are still present.
