از عاقبت کار چو گشتم غافل
شد عمر باندوہ و غم کاہش دل
پیوستہ بہ خود ہمیں حکایت دارم
زیں عمر گراں مایہ چہ کردی حاصل
انجام سے کیوں رہا میں اتنا غافل
کیوں ساتھ رہی ہے عمر بھر کاہشِ دل
ہر وقت یہی خیال ہے پیشِ نظر
اس عمرِ گراں مایہ کا ہے کیا حاصل
