Profile of Ambar Warsi

Pen Name : 'Ambar'

Real Name : Ambar Ali Shah

Born :Ajmer, Rajasthan

Died : 01 May 1993 | Sindh, Pakistan

Ambar Shah Warsi was born in 1906 in Ajmer Sharif. He belongs to a distinguished family known for its uncompromising adoration of Shariah, its affiliations, knowledge, and purity of thought. His father, Syed Tuhoor Hasan Chishti was not only a Sufi but was also known as an important religious scholar. Ambar Shah Warsi completed his regular education from Darul-Uloom Moinia Usmania, Ajmer Sharif, and at the age of thirteen he became a disciple of Bedam Shah Warsi's disciple Heerat Shah Warsi. He spent many days and nights in the service of the elders, therefore, it was suggested that he should be included in the ranks of the ones in ihram. Eventually, in 1947, Ambar Shah Warsi was formally bestowed Ihram by Haji Maqsood Shah Warsi in Khanqah Hafiz Piyari. Thus, Ambar Shah Warsi became one among the prominent Warsi Shaikhs. Ambar Shah also held a distinguished stature as a poet. He tried his hand at all genres of poetry but composed more ghazals. The mood of his ghazals is purely mystical. The reason for this is the immense love and affection for Haji Waris Ali Shah. Most of his verses are in the glory of his spiritual master. Ambar Shah Warsi had also been honored with the honor of Haj-e-Baitullah. He died on Monday, May 5, 1993, during Fajr prayers in Karachi, Pakistan, and is buried there.
