Profile of Anjum Warsi
Anjum Warsi's family name was Muhammad Shamim Ansari and pen name was Shamim Anjum Warsi. His father's name was Abdul Aziz Ansari, a very endearing and respected man. He was born in 1966 in the Dumraon district of Buxar. He has been residing in Calcutta since 1985. Here, he took up employment after completing his education and is still working. From 1987 he started reciting poetry which brought him international fame. His writings are published in prestigious magazines and journals in the country and abroad. Along with his poetic talent, Shamim Anjum is also a great prose writer. In his prose works, Roop Roop Tajalli, Maghribi Bangaal Mein Mahiya, Araq Araq Chehre, Darya Darya Chand, Harf Harf Khushboo, Panghat Panghat Piyas, Jungle Jungle Mor, Waraq Waraq Shamim, are most distinguished. Among his poetic works, Dhoop Dhoop Saaya (Nazm), Darpan Darpan Roop (Ghazal, in Devanagari script), and Khawab Khwaab Chingari are noteworthy.
