Profile of Bahadur Shah Zafar
Mirza Abu Zafar Siraj-ud-Din Muhammad Bahadur Shah Zafar who was the second son of Akbar Shah Sani was born on 24th October 1775 in Delhi. After the death of Zauq, he sought corrections in poetry from Mirza Ghalib. He had an innate bent for poetry and continued to hold poetry recitals in his palace and to cultivate an even better taste for poetry. He was the last emperor of the Mughal Empire. He was deposed by the British in 1857 for leading the War of Independence and was deported to Rangoon, where he spent the last years of his life. He died on November 7, 1862 in Rangoon, Rangpur.
