Born Sheikh Madar Bakhsh he wrote under the pen name Jangli. Ehram-clad, Jangli Shah was one from the circle of Haji Waris Ali Shah. He belonged to Sitapur district and a prosperous family but his father and then mother died at an early age, and thus, his uncle and aunt raised him. He was an expert in Arabic and Persian. He was very fond of yoga practice. He was also fortunate to undertake the pilgrimage of Hajj. When he sat in the company of Haji Waris Ali Shah, the latter ordered him to make his dwelling in the wilderness. He did exactly that and came to be known as Jangli Shah Warsi. This forest is near Fatehpur. After the service of Haji Waris, he spent all his life here and was buried there.
He has recited a Masnavi "Gulzar-e-Waris". In this Masnavi he has mapped out the complete life of his Pir and Murshid. After hearing this, Haji Warish Shah said, "You have lifted the veil of secrets."
