Kausar Khairabadi was born in Khairabad but for some time, for 35 years (1887 to 1922), he lived in Gaya city of Bihar province, far away from his hometown Khairabad. Kausar Khairabadi belonged to a noble family of Sitapur district, Khairabad. He had a pledged allegiance to Haji Waris Ali Shah. On his adoration of his spiritual guide, he composed love poetry. His poetry was featured in popular magazines and journals of the time. Kausar Khairabadi was one of the students of Ameer Minai. Kausar himself was an Ustad-poet. Among the students of Kausar Khairabadi, the names of Auj Giyavi, Ijad Gayavi, Badr Danapuri, Rasa Hamdani, Sarir Kabri and Shafaq Emadpuri are very important.
