Qamar Jalalvi's real name was Syed Muhammad Hussain. He was born on August 19, 1887 in Qasba Jalali, Aligarh District. He received regular Urdu and Persian education from Syed Zinda Ali as a child. There was a bicycle shop in Aligarh District. This was his source of livelihood. Ameer Minai was his spiritual master. After the establishment of Pakistan, he migrated and settled in Karachi. He was eloquent in all genres of poetry. Qamar Jalalvi started reciting poetry at an early age and was highly praised in poetry. At the age of about thirty, he had many disciples, due to which the word Ustad was added to Qamar's name from that time. Qamar Jalalvi had a very humble nature and always stayed away from names and appearances. He never sought his praise, nor did he seek fame. There was pain and anguish in his poems. His recitation too was quite unique. After the demise of Qamar Jalalvi, Qamar's remaining works were published. Ustad Qamar Jalalvi passed away on October 24, 1968 in Karachi.
