His real name was Hakim Abdul Hakeem and he wrote under the pen name Tabassum. Hakim was born in 1928 in Pathantoli of Jagdishpur town. A physician by profession, he received his medical degree from the Greek Medical College, Allahabad. His clinic was in the Bikramganj district of Rohtas. He used to take Islaah from his elder brother Jami Warsi and gained marked popularity as a poet.
