Profile of Zafar Kakvi
Zafar Rizvi Kakvi was born on 15th January 1939 in his maternal home at Mauza Kabir district Gaya. His real name is Syed Zafar Imam Rizvi and his historical name is Muhammad Zafar Imam. His father Maulana Syed Musa Raza ibn Munshi Syed Haider Raza was a great scholar and nobleman. He studied Urdu, Persian and Arabic in the tutelage of his father in Madrasa Kabiria. He passed matriculation from Shahsaram High School in 1954 AH. He got his education from Prashad Jain College. He started working as a clerk in the registration office in 1959. In 1975, he passed B.A from Shanti Prashad Jain College, Shahsaram. Her father was also a poet and used the pen-name Raza. He used to recite poetry in both Urdu and Persian languages. Zafar was surrounded by poets from the very start, but began his stint with poetry only in 1956. He participated in literary activities and got recognized as a poet in his youth. He used to take correction from Hashar Shahsarami Tilmiz Jalil Minai and Seemab Akbarabadi. Although his works are also found in other genres of poetry, too, his Ghazals outnumbered the rest. Zafar Rizvi Kakvi passed away in 2005 in Sasaram.
