His father, Sheikh Ismail, was a pupil in the Sabaria Shakha of the Chishti Silsila which begins with Sheikh Alauddin Ali bin Sabir Kaliyari. There, in the Khanqah of Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Haq (1434 AD), a Sufi named Sheikh Piara was reading poetry of Masaud Baq. Seeing Sheikh Saheb, he stopped the lesson. Sheikh said to, ‘Sheikh Piyara, I too am in search of the knowledge of this Tauheed.’ Sheikh Piyara was the caliph of Sheikh Abdul Quddus. Sheikh Arif taught them to accept the idea of "Anal-Haqq". Sheikh Piara also used to do poetry in Hindi. Sheikh Abdul Quddus used to do poetry in Hindi under the pen-name 'Alkhadas'. In Persian, Sheikh Saheb's pen-name was 'Ahmadi'. He wrote many texts in Persian, but none of his Hindi texts survive. His major compositions are (1) Anwar ul Uyun Fi-Asrarul Maknoon, (2) Nurul Huda, (3) Kurratuain, (4) Maktubat-e-Quddusiya and (5) Rushdanama (Hindi translation published as Alakhbani)
