Born Mirza Mohammad Raza Khan, in Lucknow in 1790, he was the son of Maulana Kazim Ali Khan Saleh, and wrote under the pen name Barq. He was one of the students of Nasikh. One of his Diwans was published during his lifetime in 1853. His couplets are still very popular today. Among his students are Hussain Ali Khan Ahsan Calcutta, Maulvi Hadi Ali Ashq Lucknow, Mirza Sarfraz Ali, Jari Lucknow son of Mirza Nawaz Ali. He died on 17 October 1857 in Calcutta.
