Born Maulvi Muhammad Mohsin in 1826 in Lucknow, he wrote under the pen-name Mohsin. Brought up in the care of his grandfather, he learned from his father and Maulvi Abdul Rahim after his death. Mohsin Kakorvi worked as an administrator for a few days and from there he passed the examination of High Court of Advocacy. At that time, the President Civil Court was in Agra. He stayed in Agra till 1857. Later he practiced law in Mainpuri. He was fond of poetry since childhood. In the beginning he composed mainly ghazals. After that, he greatly experimented with the Naa't. Mohsin Kakorvi's Kulliyat has been published by his eldest son Maulvi Noorul Hassan. His famous Naa'tia Qasida (Samt-e-Kashi Se Chale Janib-e-Mathura Badal) is also in the Kulliyat which has received tribute from all scholars and critics.There are also some quatrains and ghazals. Mohsin Kakorvi passed away on April 24, 1905 in Mainpuri.
