His name was Shakeel Ahmed and his pseudonym was Shakeel. The birth name was Ghaffar Ahmed. Born on August 3, 1916, in Badaun. His primary education was in Urdu, Persian, and Arabic matriculated from Mission High School, Sheikhupura (Badaun) in 1936, and passed BA examination from Muslim University, Aligarh in 1942. After that, he was recruited as a Clerk in the Supply Department of the Central Government of India. Remained in Delhi till 1946. In February 1946, Shakeel Badauni went to Bombay for a mushaira. On the suggestion of A.R. Kardaar, a well-known filmmaker, Shakeel took up permanent residence in Mumbai. Shakeel has written songs for more than 100 films in Urdu, Hindi, and Purbi, and became very successful as a songwriter. Shakeel had an inherited condition of diabetes and died on April 20, 1980, in Mumbai.
