ज़िंदगी बे-कैफ़ सी थी दिल-लगी जाती रही

दुज़-दीदा निगाहों में है क्या जादू ख़ुदा जाने

‘अयाज़’ इक बेश-क़ीमत सा तुझे नुक्ता बताता हूँ

ज़िंदगी को बेच डाला बे-ख़ुदी के जाम पर

ख़ुशी से चोट खाने का मज़ा या कैफ़-ए-जाँ-सोज़ी

जब तक एक हसीं मकीं था दिल में हर-सू फूल खिले थे

रिंद हूँ ब-ख़ुदा मगर ‘बेख़ुद’ हूँ बे-ख़ुदा नहीं
