आँख की ख़्वाहिश देखना है, कान की ख़्वाहिश सुनना, नाक की ख़्वाहिश सूँघना, ज़ायक़े की ख़्वाहिश चखना, जिस्म की ख़्वाहिश छूना है और अक़्ल की ख़्वाहिश सोचना है।
सूफ़ी पूरी तरह हाज़िर है। उस की रूह वहाँ है, जहाँ उस का जिस्म है और उस का जिस्म वहाँ है, जहाँ उस की रूह है। उस की रूह वहाँ है, जहाँ उस के क़दम हैं और उस के क़दम वहाँ हैं, जहाँ उस की रूह है।
विलायत की इंतिहा नुबूव्वत की इब्तिदा है, इसलिए कोई वली नबी नहीं हो सकता, जबकि हर नबी का वली होना लाज़िम है।
'ग़नी' नाम सिर्फ़ ख़ुदा ही के शायान-ए-शान है और मख़लूक़ को इस नाम के इस्तेमाल से बचना चाहिए।
सारे मुल्क का बिगाड़ इन तीन गिरोहों के बिगड़ने पर मौक़ूफ़ है, हुक्मरान जब बे-इल्म हों, आलिम जब बे-अमल हों और फ़ुक़रा जब बे-तवक्कुल हों।
अगर दुनिया पानी पर चलने वाली एक नाव है और इस ज़मीन पर पानी का नाम-ओ-निशाँ तक नहीं है, तो तुम ग़ोता-ख़ोर बन जाओ, पर डूबने वाले मत बनो।
स्वर्ग की चाह मत रखो, क्योंकि यह भी एक प्रकार की सज़ा ही है। सिर्फ़ ख़ुदा का चाहने वाला बनो, क्योंकि ख़ुदा का चाहने वाला समझदार, निडर और बहादुर होता है।
दौलत को मुसीबत समझो और उसे भूखों-प्यासों को दे दो और ख़ैरात करो, क्योंकि आख़िर में तो क़ब्र में कीड़े ही उसे खाएँगे। अगर तुम ने ख़ैरात की, तो वही लोग तुम्हारा सच्चा सहारा बनेंगे।
'सूफ़ी' शब्द को शब्दकोष में बतलाए गए इस के अर्थ से पूरा नहीं जाना जा सकता। तसव्वुफ़ एक ऐसी महान चीज़ है, जिसे किसी ख़ास ख़ाने में नहीं क़ैद किया जा सकता।
फ़क़ीर को चाहिए कि वह बादशाहों की दोस्ती को ख़तरनाक साँप और अजगर की तरह माने, क्योंकि जब कोई फ़क़ीर किसी बादशाह के नज़दीक हो जाता है, तो समझो कि उसकी आध्यात्मिक जमा-पूंजी नष्ट हो गई।
सच्चे साधक को चाहिए कि अहंकार, आत्म-प्रशंसा, घमंड और दिखावे को छोड़ दे और इन बुराईयों को अपने अस्तित्व से पूरी तरह मिटा दे।
