mumkin nahin ki jada-e-gham se mile najat

shab-e-furqat kahen hum dastan-e-dard-o-gham kis se

anis-o-hamnawa-o-monis-o-hamdam nahin hoti

na-mutmain hain ghunche tartib-e-gulistan se

manzil-e-tamir ki jaanib yun hi paDhte raho

zabt ki tab kahan umr basar hone tak

tujhko josh-e-junun hua kya hai

dida-e-pur-ab ki dariya-dili kuchh kam nahi

aaj ik aur baras biit gayā us ke baġhair

jis ke hote hue hote the zamāne mere
