hai yahi shart bandagi ke liye

hasrat-o-arman ka dil se har nishan jata rahe

sadiq nasib hogi mujhe subh-e-arzu

nahin hoti wafa ki manzilen aasan kabhi us par

meri hasti hai aaina tere ruKH ki tajalli ka

wo aankhen wo zulfen wo ruKH wo ghamze wo naz-o-ada

bujh rahe hain charagh ashkon ke

nahin aati kisi ko maut duniya-e-mohabbat mein

abhi tak to ghubar-alud hai aaina-e-hasti

mujhko wo gham ata kijiye

apne hi gham pe tabsira na karun

jis din se mere dil ko ābād kiyā tumne

mere soz-e-darun ne aankh mein aansu nahin chhoDe

bala ke ranj-o-gham darpesh hain rah-e-mohabbat mein

tere gham ki harsat-o-arzu hai zaban-e-ishq mein zindagi

tasawwur mein wo aaenge to puri aarzu hogi

dil ke har goshe mein tu ho aashiqi aisi to ho

wo bhi sadiq gosh-bar-awaz hain

aaj ik aur baras biit gayā us ke baġhair

jis ke hote hue hote the zamāne mere
